Your environment matters

Yo what’s up, coming back at you with some of my recent thoughts, i’m writing these to remind myself and maybe you of the things that truly do matter for continual growth. I am by no means a master of self development and like i said these are just my recent thoughts or learnings that I want to journal so they stay fresh in my mind and maybe help some of my readers.

I wanted to post this clip above as it highlights to a large degree how your environment can impact your performance and this applies across life in general. I guarantee that the athlete performing this 60+ rep challenge wouldn’t have performed this well without the energised crowd cheering him on.

“You’re as successful as the 5 people you hang around with the most.”

This saying fascinates me as it forces you to make some tough decisions, do you spend less time with your mates…. and it also forces you to expand your network, to surround yourself with likeminded individuals.

How to create a successful environment…

Something you can do straight away is recognising people who exhibit values, skills and a lifestyle you desire, this is key to building a network of people that motivate and inspire you to succeed.

Reach out to these sorts of people, ask them how they got to where they are, buy their books, listen to podcasts, you don’t need to be friends with that person, you can learn and treat these people like a mentor from a distance.

Learning from people you strive to be like will enable you to attract the sorts of people who are on your wave length, as you’ll start to become a person of influence who people strive to be like, you’re becoming that person you wanted to be like.

Final thoughts

Set yourself up for success by actively searching for people who exhibit the skills, values and lifestyle you want. Reach out to these types of people. Look at where you are spending your time the most and ask yourself the question, am I in an environment for continual growth…?

Thanks for reading,
